An Autism Spectrum Support Network

Our Vision and Mission

comes along who was also diagnosed on the spectrum, but his experience was very different than our first son.  We did a lot of research (because we were not provided with any resources) and had supportive family and friends, however, we had so many questions and longed for connection with people who understood what we were going through. We needed a place where we could be tired, sad, confused, and frustrated without judgment.  We needed to know that we were not alone, and that despite the challenges we were facing, everything was going to be alright. We looked for a local support group but could not find one that fit our situation, so we started our first parent support group in 2009. That experience was so helpful and wonderful, that it inspired our dedication to supporting as many families as we could through their parenting journey as well as providing awareness to promote acceptance and inclusion to all neurodivergent individuals….and we’ve been at it ever since!

There are a lot of parents/caregivers out there who may feel lost, inadequate, confused, angry or hopeless (we know...we've been there!) and having someone to talk to can make all the difference in the world. Sometimes, we also need someone who gets it to remind us of the joys, triumphs and amazing experiences that also come with raising a child with special needs. That is why we hope to create as many support systems as possible, so families can find connection, support, and encouragement with people on a similar journey who understand what they are going through.

Our sons are now adults and we are so proud of the incredible men they have become. We have lots of stories to share, and so do other parents and caregivers. If you are a parent or caregiver, you are not alone...and everything is going to be alright! We are here to share our experiences, knowledge, and resources with you, but more importantly, we are here to listen to your story, be a safe place for you to share how you feel, and to give you hope and encouragement. If you'd like to know more or have any questions, please contact us at info@ourtreasures.net or call Cathy at 262-442-2923.

Hi!  We are Scott and Cathy Muro and parents that have lived with autism for over 25 years.  That said, with all of this personal experience, the one thing we can say for certain is that there is always something new to learn!  We remember being young parents and hearing the word autism for the first time when our first son was diagnosed. We were newlyweds, new to parenting, and had to learn how to be special needs parents for a condition that we knew absolutely nothing about! Then our third son

At Our TreASures, we envision a world where acceptance, equity, and inclusion are the rule and not the exception. Where parents raising children with special needs can find support, resources, and a sense of community within their own neighborhoods.  A place where everyone can live and work at their fullest potential and are inspired and equipped to make a positive impact in the world.

Our TreASures is a family-based organization focused on supporting, empowering and advocating for families impacted by Autism Spectrum Disorders and related conditions in Southeast Wisconsin. Through creating support systems and providing autism awareness, we hope to provide support for parents and caregivers, help autistic and other neurodivergent individuals live more empowered and productive lives, and be a voice that fosters a society that is accepting of neurodiversity and inclusion.
